It’s been a very busy and achievement-stacked year already for The Internet Works and the associated group of companies we like to call The Collective Works. One of the most exciting is the addition of a new events company, The Event Works (but more on that later). So to celebrate we thought we would launch a monthly round-up of all the goings-on in our Borough offices.
One of the other big pieces of news for the company recently was that The Internet Works (TIW) has become a Google Partners certified agency, meaning we are recognised as a trusted business partner by Google and, we hope, even more so by our clients. Google Partner accreditation means the search engine giant trusts and recommends The Internet Works to manage Adwords campaigns for search advertising. It also means we can have a lovely shiny new button on our website.
Partner status is an endorsement from Google that means we have met strict criteria about our structure as a digital agency, our Adwords client’s base and monthly Adwords expenditure but also that our SEO team has the required level of expert knowledge and experience.
As regards client news, we’re pleased to welcome moneymagpie.com (one of the UK’s top consumer money saving websites), soapsquawk.co.uk (the go-to source of soap opera spoilers and gossip), trainers and sneakers e-tailer thesolesupplier.co.uk (who came to us for advice on monetising their site), and global shipping publisher ASM, of which more later.
Another of TIW’s clients is Crimson Startups, whose startups.co.uk team recently moved into our lovely open plan offices in Borough. TIW’s Chris Broadbent has become CEO of the company, hoping to continue to drive growth through online ad sales, and in January the website had its best ever month for traffic – so of course we celebrated with cake!
And further congratulations are in need, as startups.co.uk has been nominated for Editorial Campaign of the Year at the British Media Awards for the 2014 Startups 100.

Our online ads sales department is currently on-boarding numerous new and exciting sites just like these, and are looking for an experienced senior sales manager, as well as a digital media intern, to join the team to work across our portfolio. TIW’s social media team have also been busy bees, attending events like Facebook’s first SME Bootcamp in Europe. The social media giant wants to become more “accessible” to its users, especially businesses who use Facebook advertising, and is set to roll out more events of this kind. Things we learnt included lessons about how page likes aren’t as important as many people think, and that if you crack the ‘creative code’ you could well start raking in the cash. We found it particularly interesting that Facebook now views itself as a “newspaper”, and were impressed by the micro-targeting that is now available through Facebook ads. We have recently welcomed award-winning event producer Dan Caesar into the TIW family, creating an events arm to the group. Dan will be working with clients and our sister companies to manage and create new bespoke events.
The Event Works has already been shortlisted for the event industry’s Oscars: The Exhibition News Awards. The Energy Saving Home, built at the National Homebuilding & Renovating Show last year, is up for Best Feature Area at the awards on 10 April. Wish us luck!
We may be celebrating, but the work never stops. Last weekend The Event Works team accompanied TIW sister company Vape Emporium to the extremely successful MCN London Motorcycle Show 2015, held at ExCeL London. The atmosphere at the east London bikers’ event was incredible. Customer after customer came rolling up to the stand to take a break from the hustle and bike bustle to consult with the vape team and try out the products.

Sister company, Everlution, founded by TIW’s technical director Sam Rickett, has been going strong for over 10 years now, and has recently won a few big name clients to boot, including Experian and UBM. As usual there are lots of exciting projects our development team have been working on recently…
As part of its 150-year celebrations Society Generale (SocGen), the French investment bank, asked Everlution to create an online trading game. The SG Market Master ran in a two-week campaign in December 2014 which went so well that SocGen want to run a brand new game. The dev team are working on this with the IFA arm of SocGen now and it’s due to launch at the end of March. Off the back of this success there is talk of more games in the future too.
In a project managed by TIW, splash247.com – the new hub website for Asia Shipping Media (ASM) – was launched a couple of weeks ago with a new site build by Everlution. Shipping media veterans and ASM founders Grant Rowles and Sam Chambers approached TIW with the task of moving the content from their many titles (Asia Cruise News, SeaShip News, GulfShip News, SinoShip News, and ASM’s flagship global title Maritime CEO) to the new Splash-branded website. Everlution is handling the site build with TIW managing SEO on an ongoing basis. Grant said:
“TIW came recommended to us when we decided to build a new global news website. The team, involving both website development and SEO, went through every part of the process, providing regular feedback, and quickly addressing issues that popped up. The development team has delivered us a wonderful site which exceeds all expectations, and with the help of the SEO team we’re confident we’ll make a huge splash in the world of maritime media.”
And in other corporate news, Roxhill is the latest new company to come under the wing of Everlution’s ventures arm. Launched by Alex Northcott, founder of Gorkana, Roxhill provides an accurate and detailed media database for PRs specialising in financial and B2B media relations. We’re looking forward to exciting things to come from Roxhill, as it’s the talk of the media at the moment, with stories appearing in the Telegraph and Guardian.
Not many media agencies have their own e-cigarette retailer, but the Vape Works operates the fast-growing retailer Vape Emporium.
The fantastic uptake on new vape kits at the MCN London Motorcycle Show from current smokers who wanted to convert to vaping was even better than at the show last year and shows the amazing momentum in the vaping revolution!
Reflecting this, Evening Standard business journalist Simon Neville recently wrote a fantastic article about Vape Emporium after he came across our Hampstead vape shop, thanks to the comments of one of his friends.
Simon’s friend came to buy an e-cigarette recently and was wowed by the welcome she received at the shop and in general with the atmosphere, in other words what we call “the Vape Emporium Experience”. We are always pleased to see when our team’s efforts pay off and to see customers spreading the love.
Almost a year after the first Vape Emporium store opened, we’re ecstatic to announce that a new store will be launching soon!
And that’s not all, Everlution are currently working on a new theme for vapeemporium.com which is due to go live soon – watch this space.
